Minutes of the meeting of 5/9/17
Meeting Opened at: 3:30pm
Select Board Members Present: Kenn Basler, Chairperson, Steve Weisz and Carol Edelman
Also in attendance: Ray Tryon, Susan Cooper, Rob Hoogs, Jon Sylbert, Chris Blair,
- Kenn reported that he has spoken with the Clerk regarding the transition should the voters keep the position elected.
- The Board discussed the suggestions made by Peter Fohlin, and whether Monterey needs a full time or part time Administrator. The Board feels that the town approved the position for part time and that is all that is necessary as we currently have a very capable full time Administrative Assistant. The Board also discussed with M. Noe Peter’s suggestion to hire her as Town Administrator; at this time M. Noe is not interested but may be at a future date. Everyone did agree that M. Noe will remain an integral part of the processes alongside a new Town Administrator, and will be offered opportunities to expand her knowledge at any classes/seminars.
- The Board met with members of the Town Administrator Resume Review Committee to discuss the resumes received, job description, relationship between the Board and an Administrator, and the plan of action for interviewing.
At 4:58pm the Chair of the ad hoc Town Administrator Resume Review Committee, Jon Sylbert, took a roll call. Present was Susan Cooper, Rob Hoogs, Chris Blair, Ray Tryon and Jonathan Sylbert. A motion was made to go into executive session as per MGL Chapter 30A Section 21 #8 to review candidates that applied for the Town Administrator position. The motion was seconded and approved unanimously. The ad hoc committee invited Kenn Basler, Carol Edelman and Steve Weisz to be a part of the meeting. It was agreed that we would return to open session.
The Board voted to return to open session at 5:37pm. Roll call was taken again. Present was Susan Cooper, Rob Hoogs, Chris Blair, Ray Tryon and Jonathan Sylbert.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 5:40pm
